Well I have been mucking around with Poker Tracker 3 today (pretty much turning in to Rainman really or CSI as I like to call it), I have quite a lot of tournament hands and have began to profile playing styles to help me look for some extra moves and spots to improve my game. So I wasn't really wanting to risk any money playing poker tonight just wanted a game.
It has been years since I deliberately looked to play freerolls but I thought I could just use the opportunity to chill out and enjoy a game of poker.
So I decided to see if I could win a seat to the UK Best Bet league game on Sunday, 41 players sat down at the table (well I say 41 most of them where sat out). It took 51 minutes to get to the final table I think that is the quickest ever, me and Spitvenom took an add-on when permitted, clearly both of us looking to go for the seat and small amount of change on offer as prize money was not in our sights.
Sadly not to be on this occasion finally busting out 4th and winning 11 cents, I would have posted a lobby screenshot but I forgot, since I had spent 20 cents on an add-on I actually lost 9 cents.
Since I had decided to play this Freeroll I decided to participate in the $100 Unleashed Freeroll, 123 players sat down ( again I say 123 players sat down but I think only 35 players actually bothered to play). A few of the players in the UK Best Bet Las Vegas Freeroll had the same idea and some time after the hour mark we reached a final table, again Spitvenom was there (it is like me and my shadow).
Since the Cake Network to my knowledge doesn't have a visual hand history and Poker Tracker 3 not saving the hands in the database I will have to post the boring text format of the hand. It was clear as day that the vast majority of players on the final table cared about the money, I didn't and I'm sure Spitvenom wasn't that bothered either (but I can't speak for him on this matter). Needless to say I perform I pretty much standard move in this spot and knocked the opponent out of the tournament, much to his displeasure which he vented to much comic effect for me and Spitvenom. Action folds to SB who limps (first mistake), I have 44 in BB so raise and the SB snap calls, flop comes down 4,9,5. SB checks and I lead out due to a possible flush draw, much to my surprise the SB shoves me and of course I snap call. Opponent turns over 89 so shoves me with top pair and a weak kicker (second mistake). Turn delivers a 7 and river comes 5 for my fullhouse.

So then begins a rant of observer chat calling me a donk (third mistake) and that you shouldn't raise with pocket 4's, my poker ego kicks in and I bluntly tell him he is the donk and he made a rookie mistake shoving me on the flop.
Spitvenom hangs on awhile before busting out 8th and I continue to work my way through the field, eventually I reach HU and slowly chip away at him, force him in to a mistake. Finally my opponent breaks and re-raises me pre-flop with 78 I hold AQ easy call flop comes down 788, then they hit a heater of good cards and since I had seen a few bad all-ins by them I always call. Sadly my opponent beats me heads-up but they should have lost 20 hands before, still $15.75 for nothing can't complain.
The freerolls tonight illustrate to me how far my game has improved since I used to play freerolls regularly, the standard of play In the $100 was especially shocking
